This 75-minute program is part of a five-part series on Project Delivery Methods. The course starts with a video introduction by Don Rudy, AIA, AIACC Vice-President of Professional Practice, that provides an overview of Integrated Project Delivery (IPD), a project delivery approach that integrates people, systems, business structures, and practices into a process that collaboratively harnesses the talents and insights of all participants to reduce waste and optimize efficiency through all phases of design, fabrication, and construction.
The course is accompanied by PDFs of 1) an IPD Contract Guide, which provides a more in-depth discussion of this project delivery method, and 2) IPD Case Studies, based on actual projects and which provide valuable lessons to help owners, architects and contractors meet important project goals and avoid costly design and construction mistakes.
The course, appropriate for owners, design and construction professionals, provides detailed descriptions and diagrams of the contractual relationships, responsibilities of the various parties, quality control concerns, schedule and cost implications and capabilities required. The course also includes objective narratives and examples about conflicts of interest, ownership of documents, insurance requirements, dispute resolution and general pros and cons of this delivery method.
