This 75-minute program is the first of a five-part series on Project Delivery Methods, the culmination of a decade-long exploration into alternative methods of project delivery. The course begins with a video introduction by Don Rudy, AIA, AIACC Vice-President of Professional Practice, that provides an overview of various delivery methods available to public and private clients: Design-Bid-Build, Construction Management, Design-Build, and Integrated Project Delivery.
Referring to the rapid change in project delivery methods, Don Rudy states, “It is essential to understand the delivery options available and to be able to identify which delivery method best meets the goals, skill level and available resources for specific projects.”
Participants will utilize the accompanying PDF course materials. These PDF's include: 1) a Matrix of Project Delivery, which provides an overview of the first three project delivery methods: Design-Bid-Build, Construction Management, and Design-Build, and 2) a Project Delivery Glossary, which identifies terms often used when undertaking various delivery methods and sheds light on some new terms and often-confused terms that apply to all four project delivery methods.
This course is appropriate for owners and design and construction professionals who want to better understand the factors that contribute to the success of various delivery methods. It shares the collective knowledge and lessons learned through AIACC case studies, interviews with clients and project teams, and roundtable discussions with building owners, government representatives, project and construction managers, and leaders throughout the architectural, engineering, and construction industries.
